Who we are
EDSS Rural Ltd was set up by Ed Smith in 2019 to deliver rural consultancy services to private landed estates and farming clients across the Southern and Midland regions; from day to day management through to more strategic advice.
Ed comes from an Oxfordshire family farm in which he is still involved, but following his degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University College, he started his professional career in 2008 with Fisher German LLP in Market Harborough. Ed qualified as a rural chartered surveyor in 2009 at which point he was primarily focused on private client rural estate management, farm agency and rural planning work across the Midlands. In 2012, Ed moved back to Oxford and joined Carter Jonas LLP, becoming a Partner in 2016. There he continued to develop a strong rural estate management and farm agency business across the South and Central regions.
EDSS Rural has a strong existing farm and rural estate client base and has the simple aim of delivering a high level of personal service to clients, based on traditional values and innovative thinking. The calibre and loyalty of Ed's existing clients remains the best testament to his ability and ethos.
